Wednesday 13 April | We meet at the airport at 12.00pm for Air Malta flight to Dusseldorf, departing at 2.00pm. Upon arrival, transfer by coach to our 3* hotel in Nijmegen – Hotel Karel. Assignment of rooms, followed by a familiarisation walk with the tour leader.
Thursday 14 April | Breakfast followed by a full day optional excursion. We will head to Utrecht, the beating heart of the Netherlands. Utrecht boasts of beautiful canals with extraordinary wharf cellars, housing cafés and terraces by the water. The city centre is car-free. We proceed to Eindhoven, the fifth largest city in the Netherlands with many shops that cater to everyone’s taste.
Friday 15 April | Breakfast followed by a full day optional excursion to Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. We see many of its historical buildings and squares such as the National Monument, the Royal Palace, and Dam Square. We will also experience Amsterdam from the water on a canal cruise (extra). Enough time will be given for some shopping.
Saturday 16 April | Full day optional excursion – Holland Highlights. We visit Aalsmeer Flower Auction (extra), the largest trading centre for plants and flowers in the world. Later we will stop in Rotterdam – the architectural city of Holland – The Hague which is known as the “Royal City by the Sea” and is the seat of government of the Netherlands – Madurodam (extra), where Holland in miniature comes to life and Scheveningen, the most popular seaside town in Holland.
Sunday 17 April | Today we will visit the largest theme park in the Netherlands – Efteling Theme Park (entrance extra). From exciting rollercoasters to enchanting attractions or spectacular park shows, this park caters for people of all ages.
Monday 18 April | Today’s excursion (optional) will take us to “Old Holland”. We will make a stop in Marken, a tiny picturesque village where, to this day, a lot of people still dress in traditional attire. Upon arrival we will be greeted by a beautiful view of green wooden houses alongside the harbour. We then proceed to Volendam, another Dutch village with a charming harbour. The characteristic small houses, which together with the canals and the drawbridges form the most picturesque spots and present the visitor with an atmosphere of geniality and romance. Another stop will be made in Zaanse Schans where the 18th and 19th centuries are brought to life with a collection of well-preserved historic windmills and houses.
Tuesday 19 April | Today will be a day of leisure. Every Tuesday there is a market in Nijmegen. During this day you will also experience the pleasant atmosphere and beautiful old shopping streets of the city centre with great stores to suit all tastes and budgets.
Wednesday 20 April | Morning at leisure. In the early afternoon we transfer to Dusseldorf for our Air Malta departure to Malta at 5.45pm, arriving at 8.30pm.
