21 July: The Heart of the Fjords (B=breakfast)
With its ideal location right in the heart of the Fjord Norway region, between the Hardangerfjord and the Sognefjord, Bergen is the perfect starting point for our adventure! Here we are really close to the spectacular fjords and the majestic mountain landscape, to explore the wet elements with kayaking, and for glacier hiking. Of course we will experience all of this!!
We will start our morning with a walking tour all around this urban town. Packed with charm, houses clinging to the hillsides, narrow cobblestone alleys and old wooden buildings standing tall in different colours. We will walk through the lively fish market, one of Norway’s most visited outdoor markets, and also offers fresh fruit, vegetables, handicrafts and souvenirs. We will also discover the picturesque wharf and old Hanseatic quarters of Bryggen. Just in time for lunch we will allow some free time for everyone to grab a snack or to continue exploring the historic centre.
This afternoon we will visit Bergen’s famous sightseeing point, Mount Floyen. We will take the funicular right to the very top where we can enjoy breathtaking views of the beautiful scenery beneath us. Once up here, we will have the opportunity to take a peaceful trail in the mountain. We will then head back to the starting point and take the funicular back down to the city centre.
This evening, join us for an evening out in Bergen. One of the cool things about this colourful town is that you do not need to visit a gallery to experience great art. All over the city, you can admire dense collections of spray-painted glory thanks to world-class street artists from near and far. Skostredet, perhaps Bergen’s most charming shopping street, is an ideal starting point for a street art safari. We will end our evening with a drink in one of the pubs in the city centre.

Yesterday was exciting, today will be breathtaking!
Together, we will discover one of Norway’s most spectacular rock formations! Trolltunga, the Troll’s Tongue, is an impressive rock formation, jutting out from a cliff face into the air. The Trolltunga hike is a full day experience and one of the best ways to discover some of the wildest scenery in the country. We will enjoy a long day hike along high-mountain terrain, crossing rock slopes, muddy hills and impressive cliff edges. This morning you will take a transfer to the heart of the Fjords, where this exhilarating guided Rib-boat tour begins. You will feel an adrenaline rush while you witness the fjord, mountains, waterfalls, glacier and hopefully wildlife. Our guide will share a lot of information about the Trolltunga region and we will also be taken to some of the most interesting spots by the fjord. During the tour we will make a stop to get a real taste of Norway by visiting one of the cider and fruit farms in the fjords to savour the famous Hardanger apple cider. The activity ends back at the pier in Odda, where we will drive back to our hotel. Here, you are welcome to join our guide for a short but pleasant hike. Later in the evening, you will meet the rest of the group at the hotel for dinner.
24 July: Bucket List Experiences (B)

From here we will get a beautiful view of the Nærøydalen valley, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Once here, we will follow a walking trail down, passing by waterfalls, streams and magnificent viewpoints on the way. We will reunite with the coach for a short transfer to Gudvangen where we will board the ferry to Flam, as we sail through the UNESCO listed Nærøyfjorden, or as its referred to, the King of the Fjords. Upon arrival in Flam there will be time for lunch (optional) or to explore this beautiful town.
Then it’s time to experience what Lonely Planet refer to as the best train journey in the world. This is a true bucket list experience as it is one of the most spectacular train journeys that offers
panoramic views of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. Over the course of one hour, the train will take us from sea level at the Aurlandsfjord in Flåm, to Myrdal mountain station, situated 867 metres above sea level. On our way we will enjoy the changing scenery of the Flåm Valley. Before ascending into the more impassable sections of the valley, the train will run through agricultural landscapes, the old Flåm village centre and the old church. The sparkling blue river follows the railway for large parts of the trip, and we will pass small farms in locations you’d think no one could live. Once in Myrdal, we will change to the local train bound for Voss, our destination tonight. We will overnight in Voss for the next 2 nights. Accommodation: Park Vossevangen or similar.
25 July: When in Norway, do as the Norwegian’s do (B)
Our adventure will continue!
Voss is a well-known paddler’s paradise that attracts paddlers from the entire world. To start off with, we will be taken to the Voss river where we will participate in one of the most popular summer activities in Voss, river kayaking. The river has several beautiful stretches and it is perfect for us who want to get a unique perspective of the magnificent nature surroundings of Voss. Since the river has different sections, the grading is relatively low and thus the route we have chosen is suitable for beginners. The main focus is on having fun and thus it can be enjoyed by all! All equipment will be provided including wetsuit, lifejacket, helmet and shoes. After the kayaking activity, we will enjoy a relaxing afternoon. We will hop on the Voss gondola, or as we refer to it the cable car, where we will be lifted up to the top of Hangurstoppen. This is the largest and most modern mountain gondola in Northern Europe. At the top station we will have a panoramic view to many of the mountains surrounding the town of Voss. From here, we will take a short afternoon hike to enjoy the spectacular nature, before we return back down with the gondola.
26 July: A wildly beautiful day (B, D)
After breakfast, we will wave Voss goodbye and drive back towards Bergen. However, our adventure is not over yet! Just outside of Bergen we will stop by the Ulriken cable car and take the cable car up to Mount Ulriken, located 643m above sea level. Here we will spend some time to enjoy the view and then we will set out on a hiking trail with our local guide. After a short rest by the cabin, we will walk back and take the cable car back down. We will continue to our hotel in Bergen by coach.
This evening, join us for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant in the heart of Bergen as we celebrate together a week of life long memories. For the next night we will overnight in Bergen. Accommodation: Augustin Hotel or similar.
