With the ancient Stageira in Olympiada, the home of the great philosopher Aristotle, the wider area is of a huge archaeological interest. Besides, her name comes from the mother of Aristotle’s most famous student, Alexander the Great. At a distance of 30 km from Olympiada you can visit the Aristotle Grove and walk on the Aristotle trail, while at a distance of just 40 km you will find the famous Xerxes’ Canal completed in 480 BC. Just 37 km from the prefecture of Serres, you can also visit the museum of Amphipolis, the famous Kasta Tomb and the lion of Amphipolis.
The beaches of Olympiada have clear blue waters and golden sand. Enjoy your swim on the beach of the village almost in front of the hotel or walk to the nearby beaches just out of the village! In about 2 km you will find a number of organized beaches with relaxing beach bars, as well as more “secret” beaches with wild beauty, which are only accessible on foot.
The Holy Monastery of the Annunciation, the nunnery in the area of Olympiada, is an attraction for dozens of visitors throughout the year. Of course, the village of Olympiada is just a stone’s throw away from the most important Orthodox religious site: Mount Athos. On a daily basis, thousands of pilgrims from all over the world flock to cross over on boat and marvel at some of the oldest ornaments of Byzantine and modern Christian art. However, beyond Mount Athos, there are many monasteries and chapels of exceptional architecture in the surrounding area.
Local wineries are waiting for you to enjoy award-winning wine, accompanied by exquisite delicacies and local products. Ask us about availability as visits are made upon request. Also, don’t forget to try the award-winning Halkidiki honey, famous for its exquisite taste, but also to learn the secrets of its production with a unique educational tour!
