Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in South-Western Uganda, on the edge of the Great Rift Valley. Bwindi is home to over 350 endangered gorillas. Ape adventure is one of the greatest tourism contributions to the economy of Uganda and Rwanda. Mountain gorillas which are quite possibly the most awe-inspiring animals to be found in Africa. There are also 346 species of birds and over 200 species of butterflies. Gorilla tracking is the major tourist activity in Bwindi with four groups currently available daily for tourists. The Mubare group (ten members, one silverback) was opened for tourism in 1993, and the Habinyanja group (eighteen members, two silverbacks) was ready in July 1998. The Rusheguru group (ten members, one silverback) was opened in July 2002, while the Nkuringo group (nineteen members, two silverbacks) was opened for tourism in April 2004. More groups have been habituated in the past few years creating opportunity for more tourists to trek per day. You get the chance to trek and follow the gorillas firsthand with experienced and knowledgeable game rangers. This Safari is challenging, therefore a certain amount of physical fitness is required but is very rewarding when you finally meet face to face with the big primates.
ITINERARY
Day 1 | Arrival – Entebbe
Upon your arrival you will be met by your driver guide, and transferred to the hotel, in Entebbe. Depending on your flight arrival (morning hours) and if keen you may go for site seeing around Entebbe, this can be can after you are well rested and after lunch.

Day 2 | Entebbe
Today you will visit and take a walk through the Botanical Gardens, these were planted during the colonial days and are still standing today, part of which are shores of the Lake Victoria. The gardens are a habitat to an enormous birdlife and there are several medical herbs, flowers and other plants.
Later this afternoon you will visit the Reptile Park, where you will get to learn about the many species of reptiles that you can find anywhere in Uganda, all collected at this one park.

Day 3 | Mt. Elgon
After breakfast, depart to the eastern part of the country to Mbale district, in which the Mt Elgon is located and bordering with Kenya. Lunch at Mbale town, after which you will head on to the Mountain ranges/slopes. You will go on a nature walk this afternoon, later you return to the lodge.

Day 4 | Mt. Elgon
This morning after breakfast, you will set off for a mountain hike on Mt Elgon, here you will learn about the history of this mountain as the local tribes describe it, view the famous Sipi falls and the surrounding beautiful sceneries. Return later to the lodge for the rest of the afternoon.

Day 5 | Kidepo National Park
Early morning start today, as you set off for Kidepo national park, which is towards the north east of the country. The park is mostly savana grassland due to the climate in this park of the country – mostly arid and hot. This is a pretty long drive and you will arrive later this afternoon, check-in and relax for the rest of the evening.

Day 6 | Kidepo National Park
Park activities – game drive and site seeing through the park. This is the only park where you will see Ostriches in the country! There are additional BUT OPTIONAL activities in this area – such as boda boda (local motorbikes) rides, cultural tours and more which can be arranged by your guide and are PAYABLE DIRECTLY

Day 7 | Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast depart to Murchison falls national park, the drive is also fairly long, a lunch stop en route and you will arrive early afternoon at the park. Check-in and relax for the rest of the evening. Overnight stay at Fort Murchison Lodge FB or similar
Day 8 | Murchison Falls National Park
Park activities today – a game drive early this morning and after lunch a boat cruise along the Nile to the bottom of the falls! Then after a short trek to the top of the falls.

Day 9 – Kibale National Park
An early morning start, as it is a long drive too. A lunch stop en route, here after you will continue on your journey to the park. The drive takes you through various landscapes, villages and towns. And as you get closer to Fort Portal town you can view the ranges of Mt Rwenzori from a distance.

Day 10 | Queen Elizabeth National Park
Chimpanzee trek this morning, after a briefing from the park guide; you will be led into the Kibale Forest, to follow the chimpanzees as they go about their days activities. In this forest you are likely to site various species of primates – as it is a habitat to the largest number of primates in the country.
Return for lunch and then depart for Queen Elizabeth Park, site seeing as you drive along and arriving mid afternoon at the park.

Day 11 | Queen Elizabeth National Park
Today’s activities include a game drive, there are several crater lakes in this park, amongst which is the ‘salt lake’ – (as commonly known) – Lake Katwe is a salted lake from which most of the salt is mined and supplied to most parts of the country. You will also go on a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects the two lakes – Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is habitat to an enormous birdlife, with uncountable bird species from all over.

Day 12 | Bwindi National Park
Transfer to Bwindi national park, known for the famous impenetrable forest, and a habitat to the mountain gorillas. The drive is about 3-4hours, arrive in time for a late lunch, relax for the rest of the evening or if keen you can go on the village walk, where you get to learn about the local communities.

Day 13 | Bwindi National Park – Gorilla trek
– An early breakfast today, at the park starting point you will be briefed and then start the trek. It’s advisable to bring with a small backpack to carry your personal items – sun lotion, sunglasses, lunch pack (provided by the lodge). Hiking shoes, long pants and long-sleeved shirt, a hat and a light rain jacket are good to consider for the trek.

Day 14 | Volcanoes Park – Rwanda
Transfer to Volcanoes park – Border crossing formalities are applicable. A lunch stop at Ruhengeri town, after a tour around town, check-in later this afternoon for your overnight stay.

Day 15 | Volcanoes Park – Rwanda
Parc des Volcans (Volcanoes park) is also a habitat to the mountain gorillas as it is located in the same areas as Uganda’s Bwindi and Mgahinga parks. Here you will also find the rare primate specie – the “Golden Monkey” and as well the Dian Fossey Foundation.
Today you will start with the Golden monkey trek and then visit the foundation, from where you will learn about Dian’s love for the gorillas.

Day 16 | Lake Kivu
Transfer to Lake Kivu, the lake border Rwanda and Congo, fishing activities are done here by fishermen from both countries. Enjoy a boat ride on the lake and get to learn more about the history of it existence. Overnight stay at Gorillas Lake Kivu Hotel DB or similar
Day 17 | Kigali City
After breakfast you will transfer to Kigali City, here you will go on a city tour and as well visit the largest genocide memorial centre. Later you (if keen) you will get to enjoy the nightlife in the city, otherwise relax at the hotel

Day 18 | Kigali/ Departure
Breakfast, later transfer to the airport in time for your departure flight.
