Magical North Macedonia

Thursday 26 October  |  Meet your tour-leader at the airport at 2 am for our Airmalta flight to Thessaloniki departing at 4 am. After arrival, transfer to a hotel in Thessaloniki for breakfast (incl). Afterwards we shall head across the Greek/North Macedonia border and shall stop for a short visit at the Stobi archaeological site (entr. extra aprox €3), a surprisingly underrated ancient city that was once an economic and strategically valuable hub. It was the capital of a Roman province named Macedonia Salutaris and nowadays partially preserved buildings fill this massive excavation site, packed densely enough to spark your imagination! We then continue onto the capital city where we shall enjoy a panoramic city tour of Skopje, the city where Mother Theresa was born, followed by a walking tour of the main sights. Room check-in followed by dinner (incl.) and overnight.

Friday 27 October  |  After breakfast we offer you an optional excursion as we visit the beautiful Matka Lake & Canyon. Free time to walk along the lakeside or we suggest you take a boat ride (extra & subject to weather conditions) and visit the wonderful Vrelo Cave, accessible only by boat, and which has many stalactites and which is considered to be one of the deepest underwater caves in Europe! Return to our hotel in the afternoon and you may wish to explore the city centre followed by dinner in the evening  (included).

Saturday 28 October  |  This morning after breakfast and room check-out we offer you another interesting excursion, this time visiting Western Macedonia. We shall drive to Mavrovo National Park which encompasses the most beautiful parts of western Macedonia. We shall visit the St. Jovan Bigorski Monastery (entr extra and possible by a 15 min uphill walk), famous for its wooden Iconostasis considered to be the most beautiful one in Macedonia. We then drive on to Lake Ohrid for room check-in and dinner followed by overnight in our hotel in Ohrid.

Sunday 29 October  |  After breakfast and room check-out we shall visit explore the town of Ohrid, located on the northeast side of famous Lake Ohrid. Join our local guide for a walking tour of the Old City, visiting the most important sights. We rejoin our coach for our drive back to Thessaloniki. In the evening enjoy dinner (not incl) in one of the numerous restaurants in the city centre followed by a late evening transfer to the airport. Flight to Malta departs at 1.20 am (30 Oct) and arrival in Malta is expected at 01.50 am.
