Hemmed in by the jagged peaks of the ‘Five Fingers’ mountains and the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the charming seaport of Kyrenia (Girne) is postcard worthy. Kyrenia makes a popular basecamp for exploring North Cyprus with nearby attractions including the mountain top Bellapais Abbey and Hilarion Castle, Walt Disney’s inspiration when creating the animated movie Snow White, with a magnificent view over Kyrenia’s coastline.
Once a quintessential Mediterranean seaside resort and one of North Cyprus’ busiest tourist towns, the sandy beaches of Famagusta were left deserted in 1974, when the island was divided. Not all of Famagusta has been abandoned though and strolling around the walled old quarter offers a glimpse into the town’s former glory. This tour will give you a chance to explore the daily life of ancient people at Saint Barnabas hometown of Salamis. The excursion includes a visit to Saint Barnabas monastery, the Icon Museum and the archaeology museum. Light lunch included at a seafront restaurant followed by a visit to the modern part of Famagusta, one of the well preserved walled cities in the world.
No holiday to North Cyprus can be complete without a visit to the Karpaz Peninsula, this is the Cyprus of old, a land almost unspoilt by the savage hand of modern development, where Mother Nature still holds the reins of power; where donkeys, trees, flowers, and cereal crops dot the landscape as far as the eye can see, before tapering off into the blue waters of the Mediterranean. There is also an abundance of history with ancient city sites, Byzantine period basilicas with intricate mosaics; conglomerations of timeworn churches; rural traditional Cypriot villages whose inhabitants pursue a way of life now as they have done for the past few hundred years.
All too often overlooked in favor of the beach front coastal resorts, the Cypriot capital offers an intriguing glimpse into modern-day island life. Nicosia’s (Lefkoşa) most unique claim to fame is its status as the world’s last divided capital and the imposing ‘Green Line’ provides a visual marker between the Turkish-ruled Northern Cyprus and the southern Republic of Cyprus. Passports required for this excursion.
Experience an adrenaline burst on top of the Five Finger Mountains and discover an abandoned military tank! Stop at the deserted Ayios Ponteleimon Monastery in the middle of the forest and enjoy the silence. Have lunch at the historical town of Lapta and enjoy delicious traditional food. Swim in the beautiful coastal waters of Kyrenia as a bonus in summer time.
Tip: make sure to bring your camera to take lots of beautiful images during your rugged mountain journey. An unforgettable experience!
At the end of a long holiday, what better way to celebrate and enjoy local tradition than to join the locals at a Cypriot night? Get ready for the night out with traditional dance performances (folk dance), music and belly dancing – spoil yourself!
A tailor-made night to give you the best of tradition. The night starts with a variety of typical Cypriot delicious starters, accompanied by unlimited local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks while listening to traditional Cypriot Taverna music and watching professional folk dancers perform. To burn those calories why don’t you join the folk dancers. Learn to dance with a full glass of Cypriot Brandy placed on top of your head – hopefully still being full afterwards so you can enjoy drinking it. A night that will always stay in your memory!
Let us take you to the greenest part of North Cyprus where tradition, culture and history intertwine amongst orange orchards and old copper mines.
Our Güzelyurt Tour is an exceptional full day excursion and includes many attractions such as an Archaeological museum, the Saint Mammas Church as well as free time to shop at the local Saturday farmers market. Thereafter we drive to the old copper town of Lefke and visit the ancient city ruins of Soli (11BC) where you will see beautiful mosaics including the famous “Swan of Soli”.
In the afternoon and according to the season we either pick oranges, strawberries or in summer, have enough time to swim at a Turtle Beach.
Diving in the clear and warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea is a unique experience. If you are an experienced diver or haven’t yet taken the first plunge, the unique and amazing marine life you will see is guaranteed to take your breath away. Discover diving for the first time with the help of experienced instructors to a maximum of 5 meters. This 2-hour session is a truly breath-taking experience. During May and June you may come across Caretta-Caretta or Green Sea Turtles while diving, an unforgettable experience. Different dive sites are offered for all levels of experience. For wreck enthusiasts, we have a once a week day trip to the well-known Zenobia wreck, which is one of the top 10 wreck dive sites in the world!
