FRIDAY 05 FEBRUARY

Meet your tour leader at Malta International Airport for your direct flight to Rome. Upon arrival, embark on your private transfer to Montecatini Terme via Orvieto: a spectacular hilltop town built on a volcanic plateau, renowned for its magnificent Gothic cathedral, medieval streets and fascinating Etruscan heritage. Enjoy free time to explore its charming lanes, picturesque squares and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Umbrian countryside, before continuing onto your way to the hotel for check-in and room allocation, enjoy your free time in this beautiful Tuscan town that was built around its mineral water springs. Later re-join the group for the optional welcome dinner.

SATURDAY 06 FEBRUARY

Today, after breakfast join your tour leader for a full day optional excursion to the magnificent city of Florence. Cradle of the Renaissance, romantic, enchanting and utterly irresistible, Florence is a place to feast on world-class art and gourmet Tuscan cuisine. Later head back to your hotel for dinner before overnight.

SUNDAY 07 FEBRUARY

Soon after breakfast, embark on what probably is the highlight of this vacation. Head to Lucca, hidden behind imposing Renaissance walls, cobbled streets, handsome piazzas and shady promenades, before making your way to Viareggio for its world-renowned Carnival. Famous thanks to its unique story, its strong identity and its big floats parading through the seaside promenade of the town.

MONDAY 08 FEBRUARY

Today head to yet another Tuscan city: Siena. Effectively a giant, open air museum, Siena is probably best known for the colourful horse race, Il Palio conducted twice each year in the summer. The historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it’s one of Italy’s most visited sites. Afterwards head to San Gimignano, originally an Etruscan village, famed for its tall towers, swarmed by day trippers, who are lured by a palpable sense of history, an intact medieval streetscape and enchanting rural setting.

TUESDAY 09 FEBRUARY

After breakfast and checkout join your fellow companions and start travelling south towards Rome, with a stop en-route at Pisa. Once a maritime power to rival Genoa and Venice, modern Pisa is best known for an architectural project gone terribly wrong. But the world-famous Leaning Tower is just one of many noteworthy sights in this compelling city. Later continue towards Populonia, a charming medieval village overlooking the Gulf of Baratti, where Etruscan history, ancient ruins and spectacular coastal views combine. Towards the end of the day reach Rome’s airport for your direct flight back to Malta departing at 2100hrs
