SATURDAY 19 DECEMBER
Meet your tour leader at 0730hrs at the Malta International Airport for your flight to Budapest. Upon arrival, head towards Heroes’ Square and City Park for a delightful stroll, featuring Vajdahunyad Castle, the famous ice-skating rink, and charming Christmas market stalls beautifully decorated for the festive season. Later, transfer to Arena Mall, one of Budapest’s largest shopping centres, home to major international brands including Primark and many more. Late in the afternoon, proceed to your centrally located hotel for check-in and room allocation. Shortly afterwards, join your tour leader for a short familiarisation walk, where you will discover a wide variety of dining options.
SUNDAY 20 DECEMBER
After buffet breakfast, embark on a full-day exploration of Buda and Pest, the two distinctive sides of Budapest, accompanied by your English-speaking local guide. Visit the stunning Fisherman’s Bastion and admire spectacular views over the River Danube and its magnificent bridges. You will also explore the city’s famous Jewish Quarter. Later, you may choose to join your tour leader for an optional River Danube boat cruise (extra). The remainder of the afternoon and evening is free for personal sightseeing. Wander through Budapest’s vibrant Christmas markets or unwind in one of the city’s renowned thermal baths, featuring both indoor and outdoor thermal pools.
MONDAY 21 DECEMBER
Today, after breakfast, travel to the Slovakian capital city of Bratislava. Upon arrival, join your tour leader for a walking tour of Bratislava’s historic centre. Stroll through the city’s iconic landmarks and discover the rich history this hidden gem has to offer. You will also have free time to explore the enchanting Christmas market, filled with festive gifts, traditional crafts, and delicious local delicacies.
TUESDAY 22 DECEMBER
After breakfast, join your fellow travellers and head towards Eger, an important cultural centre, home to the magnificent Eger Cathedral. Eger is also renowned as the heart of Hungary’s celebrated wine region. In the afternoon, continue to Szépasszonyvölgy Valley, famously known as the “Valley of the Beautiful Women,” home to nearly 200 wine cellars. Later, you may join your tour leader for an optional visit to one of the region’s most popular wine cellars (extra), where you will enjoy a tasting of six different wines accompanied by delicious traditional peasant platters.
WEDNESDAY 23 DECEMBER
Soon after breakfast, check out from your hotel and head towards the famous Danube Bend region. Stop at Szentendre, a charming baroque-style town known for its cobblestone streets, pastel-coloured houses, and picturesque atmosphere. Later, continue to Visegrád to visit its spectacular fortress (entrance included), dramatically perched on an impressive cliff overlooking the Danube. Afterwards, transfer to Budapest Airport in time for your return flight to Malta departing at 1810hrs.
